Miles has more than 30 years of experience in public service at the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office in California, where he prosecuted sexual assault, child molest, violent gang crime, white collar fraud, domestic violence, and homicide cases. He then utilized his broad experience in the courtroom to serve as a Chief Deputy District Attorney for three elected District Attorneys over a span of 13 years. Under his guidance, federal funding for the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative was secured in Ventura County, resulting in a multi-year effort to identify and analyze every outstanding sexual assault kit in the possession of local law enforcement partners. Through this experience, Miles partnered with Eric and Niels to design and implement Forensic Tracker, a software solution to ensure that every “cold case” DNA match is identified, tracked, and followed to its logical conclusion. Now, with Forensic Tracker, viable investigative leads are prioritized for follow-up work that may lead to the arrest and prosecution of violent crime perpetrators who escaped detection. Victims of sexual assaults and other violent crimes that went unsolved for years may now finally secure justice and a sense of closure. Through Forensic Tracker, Miles continues his life-long pursuit of ensuring those who committed crimes of violence are ultimately held responsible for their actions.
